Lunch and Learn

A relaxed introduction before the adventure begins.

Feeling a little nervous? Curious about the BMW bikes? Not quite sure what to expect? Lunch and Learn is here to help.

• A relaxed pre-course introduction at BMW Off Road Skills HQ
• Designed for riders booked onto, or considering, an Level One course
• Ideal for anyone who wants extra time around the bike before riding
• Small group format with a maximum of 8 riders
• Includes lunch, instructor meet and greet, bike walkaround, kit advice and Q&A
• Perfect before Level One or as a confidence-refreshing return

Off Road Skills understands that taking your first steps into off road riding can feel a little overwhelming. The environment is new, going off road is new, and it’s completely normal to arrive with questions.

Lunch and Learn gives you the chance to break the ice before your course begins. It’s a friendly, no-pressure session where you can meet the team, familiarise yourself with the BMW GS motorcycles, ask questions, talk through your kit and get a clearer idea of what to expect from your Off Road Skills Level One experience.

There’s no rush, no pressure and no expectation to know everything already. Just a small group, a relaxed setting, a good lunch and the time to settle in properly.

What does Lunch and Learn include?

From the moment you arrive, the focus is on helping you feel more comfortable, informed and ready.

Your session includes:

• Lunch at BMW Off Road Skills HQ
• A chance to meet the instructor team
• A guided BMW GS motorcycle walkaround
• Time to sit on, handle and familiarise yourself with your bike
• Advice on riding kit and protective clothing
• A relaxed course briefing
• Confidence-building guidance
• Bike handling familiarisation
• General Q&A with the team

This isn’t a full training course, and it isn’t designed to overload you with information. It’s a calm, supportive introduction that helps you understand the bikes, the setting and the people who will be guiding you.

For many riders, that little bit of extra time makes all the difference.

Who is Lunch and Learn for?

Lunch and Learn is designed for riders who would appreciate a little more time before joining a two-day Off Road Skills course.

It is ideal if you are:

• Booked onto Level One and want to feel more prepared
• Thinking about booking but would like to see what it’s all about first
• New to off-road riding and unsure what to expect
• Returning to motorcycling after time away
• Used to road bikes but less familiar with adventure motorcycles
• Nervous about the size or weight of a BMW GS
• Keen to ask questions before the riding starts
• Looking for a more social, gentle introduction to the Off Road Skills environment

Whether you’re excited, nervous, curious or all three, you’ll be in good company.

Why join Lunch and Learn before Level One?

Level One is designed to be accessible, welcoming and beginner-friendly, but we know that arriving for any new riding experience can still feel daunting.

Lunch and Learn gives you the chance to arrive a day earlier, meet the team and get familiar with the basics before the course begins. You can take your time around the motorcycle, understand how the day will work, ask the questions you’ve been thinking about, and start to feel at home before putting your helmet on.

It’s about confidence before riding… Confidence in the bike. Confidence in the team. Confidence in yourself.

Who can take part?

Lunch and Learn is open to riders who are booked onto, or considering booking, an Off Road Skills Level One course.

To take part, you should:

• Be booked on or interested in joining an Off Road Skills course
• Be comfortable around motorcycles
• Want to build confidence before riding off road
• Be happy to take part in a small-group session

You don’t need off-road experience. You don’t need to arrive feeling confident. That’s exactly what Lunch and Learn is designed to help with.
