Off Road Skills in Thailand

Simon Pavey will for the first time be teaching off road training classes and lead an off-road adventure ride in Thailand in December 2011. The course, designed for intermediate off-road riders, will include skill and technique reviews based on the lessons used on the world famous BMW Off Road School in South Wales. Run from a dedicated off-road facility,  the training will the be followed by an off-road adventure lead and monitored by Simon. 

Simon Pavey is the head of and chief instructor at Off Roads Skills. With over 20 years experience teaching enduro and adventure riding techniques on both BMW GS models and other makes, Simon and his school are recognised as one of the world’s most experienced trainers. Not just a trainer, Simon has completed the Dakar rally six times and in January 2013 is looking to complete his seventh.

Thailand – Off Road Skills Course
 

Attending the Off Road School in the UK would normally cost plane tickets, hotels in the UK, British food prices and the psychological damage of eating it! The course fee includes your tuition for the two days, one nights accommodation and all food during the course too.

 

The date for the two day course is the 2nd and 3rd of December 2011.

Course outline:

Day 1:

09:00 to 12:00  - Skill review: Simon will go over basic and intermediate techniques, review each rider’s skill and help tweak riding technique

12:00 to 13:30 Lunch

13:30 to 15:30 – Controlled ride, using a 2.5 km course in pineapple fields, riders will be able to apply newly learned skills in a controlled but open space. Traverses, hill climbs and descents, water crossings, fast open sections conveniently close enough for Simon to keep a watchful eye on all participants

16:00 to 17:00  - Video review of common errors, exclusive Dakar footage, video of course participants

Day 2:

08:00  - Depart on SMART (Simon Monitored Adventure Ride in Thailand)!

13:00  - Lunch followed by comments from Simon

14:30  - Depart for home

Cost and Additional Information.

The cost of the course is 17,200 Baht per person. The initial deposit is 8,600 Baht, to paid upon booking with the remaining balance to be paid 6 weeks prior to the course. The deposit is non-refundable, except if the course is cancelled by Off Road Skills.

The course is available on a first-come first-served basis.

The course is to be conducted on your own machine, there is no restriction on the brand but we recommend the bike is an ‘Adventure Style’ bike. Required equipment includes proper motocross boots, approved helmet, gloves. Recommended equipment should extend to padded clothing/body armour.

The course fee includes instruction, one nights accommodation, all meals during the course, use of land and a certificate of completion.

Please note: It does not incude personal motorcycle or accident insurance, fuel, or any additional meals or drinks for your guests.

The training will take place in Suan Pung, Ratchaburi. The coordinates of the entrance are N13 35.292 E99 25.923 and the location is called Park and Ranch. Accommodation is 2 bedroomed chalets, each with their own bathroom in a 1-up, 1-down configuration. There is a basic kitchen, fridge and eating area on the ground level. The food is simple Thai food and is generally of good quality.
