Dan Walsh learns to ride off road - 26 June 2007 Dan arrived in south Wales on Sunday night to pre-empt his experience the following day. He had planned to enjoy a taster of two Off Road Skills experiences in one day. First he started on the XChallenge and joined in part of the Level One course where he learnt how to ride down hill, stop on a hill, uphill recovery and more. After lunch, he swapped from the XChallenge to a HP2, where he joined the second half of the HP2 Experience. This event gives customers a full day riding the 105 hp machine – half a day on road with street tyres fitted and the other day off road on off road tyres. Dan’s prior experience of riding off road included his long personal trip where he rode a BMW F650 GS Dakar across America for a considerable period of time. “Dan was like a little kid in a candy store when he was riding with me on the HP2s,” said Simon Pavey. “He learnt a lot of skills that he never had before even though he had already spent time riding off road. He finished the course with a renewed confidence for riding off road and especially loved riding the HP2. In fact, he mentioned he might be keen to buy one.” Dan’s story on his Off Road Skills experience will appear in the September issue of Bike magazine, which will be on sale on 25 July.
