Level 3 GS
Now a direct follow-on from our new Level 2, our new Level 3 GS is for riders who really enjoy the technical challenges of off-road. The primary focus is on correct technique and good timing. In order to achieve the maximum benefit from this course, you will need to be thoroughly competent with the Essential Core Skills taught in Levels 1 and 2; freeing you to concentrate on the technical details that really take your motorcycling skills to another level ! Going straight into the Skills and Trials Challenge will allow you to assess your starting point for further skills development, as the major emphasis for Level 3 is on honing your technical skills on the trails.
Designed for:
- Riders who have confidently completed Level 2 and really want to take their motorcycle skills to a new level.
- Riders who have mastered the basics and are ready for bigger challenges.
- Riders who want to be able to ride their adventure style bike anywhere in the world!

- Entry for Level 3 – must self-qualify by demonstrating competency on the Skills and Trials Challenge (from Level 2). Requires competence in Essential Core Skills taught in Levels 1 and 2.

Who are the instructors?
Who better to teach you the skills of off-road riding than some of Britain’s best off-road riders? Seven-time Dakar Rally competitor Simon Pavey heads up a team of experienced BMW Off Road instructors who know all that you could possibly know about off-road riding. They have the expertise, riding ability and a genuine enthusiasm for motorcycling. Our team are here to encourage you, teach you the skills and make our courses an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
Additional Information
Customers are able to choose to ride either a G 650 Xcountry, G 650 Xchallenge, F 650 GS, F 800 GS, R 1200 GS for this activity, subject to availability.
Participants must be 21 years of age or over and have a full and valid motorcycle license for riding in the United Kingdom.
This course is ideally suited for customers who have already confidently completed all elements of the Level Two course. All course participants are grouped according to riding ability and must have a good level of fitness.
How much?
The two-day BMW Off Road Skills Level Three course costs £449.
Prices include two days of group instruction, motorcycle hire, third party insurance, fuel, two lunches and one evening meal, refreshments and a certificate of completion.
Please note: It does not include personal motorcycle or accident insurance, your accommodation and evening drinks, or any additional meals or drinks for your guests.
What do I wear?
Helmets must be EC2205 or equivalent and in good condition. Gloves should be lightweight and offer dexterity in the fingers, so that you can use the motorcycle controls. Most textile type road jackets and trousers are fine, providing the quilted layer can be removed, as you will get very hot. Boots MUST be motocross boots.
Lace up boots and any boot without rigidity in the ankle area are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Please note that the organisers will check and inspect all clothing and equipment and assess suitability. Any riders considered to be inadequately clothed or protected will be excluded from the course.
If you are in any doubt about the suitability of your boots then we have hire clothing available. However, it is essential that reservations are made in advance of attending the course as supplies are limited.
If you wish to hire boots or any other clothing please e-mail your requirements, including sizes to clothing@offroadskills.com at least two weeks prior to your course date. We will normally confirm your hire clothing has been reserved with an email in the next 2 days. Prices are listed in your confirmation letter. Boots should be requested in European sizes i.e. 47. For trousers please advise the waist size you require, i.e. 34″. Gloves and jackets should be requested in sizes M – XXL.
