GS or Enduro?

Which course is for me GS or Enduro?

Level 2 has a GS version and an Enduro version and while both courses are about the same in technical difficulty they will be very different depending on the style of bike you want to try and the type of riding you aim to improve in.

Level 3 also has a GS and an Enduro version and they too will be similar from a technical perspective. However, at this Level there will be different skills suitable to the different bikes, so why not try both.

Of course the ideal way to move between the Levels is by taking in a Day in the Dirt, and for your first real trip we have the Brecon Beacons Adventure.

Level 2 GS Designed for:

  • Riders who have confidently completed Level 1 and want to improve their biking skills even further.
  • Riders who want to tackle trails a little further off the beaten track.
  • Riders who want to build their confidence on an adventure style bike.

Level 2 Enduro Designed for:

  • Riders who have confidently completed Level 1 and want to improve their biking skills even further.
  • Riders who want to tackle trails a little further off the beaten track.
  • Riders who want to build their confidence on an enduro bike.

So the key difference is in the type of bike and the type of riding you want to do. The GS range (and in this case including the G650X) are all adventure bikes, so if you want to continue to improve your riding on a big adventure bike with a view to travelling and overland style riding then this is the bike for you. They are compromise bikes that can go on road/off road. Hence the name GS –  Gelande Strasse.

The G450X is a pure Off Road bike, very light, very nimble, very well suspended and just designed for off road fun. While it is street legal, don’t bother riding it to far on the road. So if your goal is just about off road fun then this is the bike for you.

R1200 GS

Look at the physical difference between a 1200GS and a G450X. One is very narrow and light and has no luggage capacity, the other is the complete opposite.
